Though, being on a Mac, I'll have consider additional cost of a 2nd license for Zbrush, since I only have a Mac license. Or there's the Hybrid + laptop combo. So instead of selling my laptop, I'd sell my iPad Air 2 and Intuos 5 Medium Pro Wireless to put towards the Hybrid. In my CC2_PACK.zip there is a SSDT for my CPU (i5-4258U). If you have other CPU, you need to generate a proper one (you will need internet access so install now FakePCIID and FakePCIID_Broadcom_WiFi and copy all WiFi related Clover patches from config_OK.plist to your config.plist).

Hello, I'm researching the CC2 to replace my laptop and I have a few questions and concerns, which often get me leaning towards the Hybrid.
- Longevity: A standard Cintiq often sees a long useful life, but how will the Companions hold up? While the added Cintiq mode to CC2 greatly extends its usefulness, could the PC hardware end up being an Achilles heel anyway? What if that heavily used fan dies, what if some other failure prevents Windows from starting up? Can you still use it in Cintiq mode without running Windows? These concerns probably less of an issue with the Hybrid.
- Cable length: What's the length of that 3-in-one cable you'd likely use with your desktop at home? Most monitors come with 6 foot cables and placed at the back of your desk, but the companion 2, or hybrid, is placed at the front of your desk, sometimes held in portrait. Do they give you enough length to comfortably manage the cable? Wacom support told me 4 feet, maybe 6 if you count the ac adapter, but that seems short. Can anyone confirm length?
- Running Hot: I hear the device mostly gets warm and never uncomfortably hot. If this is true, maybe the fan noise is a worth while trade off to keep it comfortable in your lap and hands. Or does it get hot? What about Cintiq mode? The Hybrid likely doesn't run into heat issues, and I think it has no fan.
Hybrid + Laptop VS Companion 2:
- If I get the CC2, I would likely sell my laptop, a 15.4' Retina MacBook Pro with Quad i7, 16gb ram and 512gb storage. It's a great machine, fast and silent, but I don't need a powerhouse after upgrading my Desktop. So rather than keeping it for light use, I think I'd get more value and use with a slower Companion 2 and sell the laptop, covering most the cost. Though, being on a Mac, I'll have consider additional cost of a 2nd license for Zbrush, since I only have a Mac license.
- Or there's the Hybrid + laptop combo. So instead of selling my laptop, I'd sell my iPad Air 2 and Intuos 5 Medium Pro Wireless to put towards the Hybrid. Now, obviously the laptop + hybrid isn't an ideal combo for frequent travel due to weight and bulk, but I'm not sure I would need the Cintiq function everywhere I go. Vice versa, maybe all I need is the hybrid for sketching. Plus the hybrid has a longer battery life. On longer trips where I need to do serious work, requiring both machines, the combo gives me a dual display setup.
Software Commonly Used: I mostly use Zbrush, Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, Modo, and various drawing apps.
